The post-credits sequence of Spider-Man: Brand New Day offers a tantalising glimpse at the web-slinger's future within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, though it leaves more questions than answers about Tom Holland's next appearance.

The Credits Scene Explained

After Peter Parker's victory in Brand New Day, Holland's character encounters his former best friend Ned (Jacob Batalon) at a café. Following the events of No Way Home, the world had forgotten Peter's identity entirely. Yet during their reunion, Ned appears to regain his memories of the wall-crawler just as the scene concludes.

The most significant moment arrives when Ned's Spider-Man tracking application—a tool he built to monitor the hero's whereabouts—resurfaces. As the app attempts to pinpoint Spider-Man's location, it begins zooming outward dramatically. The signal carries no longer points to New York or anywhere on Earth. Instead, it locates the hero somewhere in space. The screen then announces: "Spider-Man will return," leaving the timeline deliberately vague.

What's Next for Holland's Spider-Man?

According to Variety, Tom Holland is not currently listed on the cast sheet for Avengers: Doomsday, the sprawling ensemble film bringing together heroes from the Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men and Thunderbolts teams to battle Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom. However, the absence from the official roster does not entirely rule out a surprise cameo or mid-credits appearance.

The space-bound setup more directly points to Avengers: Secret Wars, scheduled for the following year. Should the MCU adapt the comic book storyline of the same name, the film could unite heroes across the multiverse into a dimension called Battleworld. This concept would naturally explain Spider-Man's off-world location and could provide the mechanism by which he reunites with the broader Avengers team.

The Multiverse Question

The Secret Wars framework raises intriguing possibilities. In the comics, Battleworld stitches together alternate realities, placing every hero and variant into a single universe. Such a structure could address a lingering question among fans: whether former Spider-Man actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield—both of whom appeared in No Way Home—might return alongside Holland for a larger multiversal narrative. Those answers, however, remain speculative for now.

Until Marvel Studios makes official announcements, viewers are left interpreting the credits scene as either Holland's extended absence before a dramatic return in Secret Wars, or a hint of something larger already in motion. The deliberate ambiguity appears intentional, preserving surprise for future projects without committing to a specific timeline.
