Careers & Write for Us

Careers

The Asia Spotlight is a young newsroom in a growing network. We list open roles on this page when we have them; there are none advertised right now. If you believe you belong here anyway, we read speculative applications — send a short note and your work to careers@theasiaspotlight.com.

Write for us

We commission reporting, profiles and analysis from contributors across Asia and beyond. The bar is the same as for staff work: a person or force genuinely shaping Asia, an angle our readers have not seen, and reporting that stands up.

How to pitch

  • Three or four sentences: the story, why now, and why you.
  • Tell us what access you have — who will talk to you that would not talk to someone else.
  • Include two samples of published work.
  • One pitch per email, to pitches@theasiaspotlight.com.

We commission at 800–2,500 words depending on the story; fees are agreed at commission. Contributors work under our Editorial Standards, including disclosure of any interest in the subject. We respond to every pitch we intend to pursue; if you have not heard from us within ten working days, consider the pitch free to take elsewhere.
