Tinypingin anime sequel expands world with ocean adventure and star-studded soundtrack

The theatrical sequel to South Korea's breakout 2024 animated film 'Love Tinypingin' has arrived with an expanded narrative universe and upgraded production values, signalling the franchise's growing competitive footing against major studio releases.

The original film drew 1.24 million viewers—well beyond its break-even threshold of 500,000—establishing the viability of theatrically released original Korean TV animation. The sequel shifts its setting to an ocean adventure, moving beyond the magical-girl fantasy formula of its predecessor. Princess Romi embarks on a quest beneath the sea to rescue her mother, Queen Belita, after a mysterious underwater force threatens the Emotion Kingdom.

The character design stands out as the most visible leap forward. Romi and Belita now sport refined costumes with detailed expressions and Disney-calibre visual polish. New characters including the ocean boy Kaite and reimagined Tinypingin companions—Shimmerpingin, Coralpingin and Bellpingin—signal fresh merchandising potential.
