Seventeen’s Seungkwan and Dino to enlist in South Korean Army together on 26 October
K-pop group Seventeen confirms that Seungkwan and Dino will enlist together in October, with Mingyu starting alternative service in September.
Seventeen members Seungkwan and Dino will enlist together on 26 October, joining the South Korean Army's military brass band, according to Pledis Entertainment. The announcement came via a notice posted on Weverse, the K-pop fan community platform, on 10 August.
Mingyu, another member of the 13-piece boy group, will begin alternative military service on 10 September. Pledis said the three members will continue with their scheduled activities before their respective service dates.
The agency asked fans to refrain from visiting the boot camp on Seungkwan and Dino's enlistment day, citing crowded conditions with other recruits and families. Similarly, supporters are advised not to visit Mingyu's workplace during his alternative service. Pledis confirmed there will be no official events held on either Mingyu's service start date or his entry into the military training centre.
With these enlistments, nearly all Seventeen members will have fulfilled or be fulfilling their mandatory military duties. The exceptions are S.Coups, who was exempted; Chinese members The8 and Jun; and U.S. national Joshua, who are not subject to South Korea's conscription requirements. The staggered timelines allow the group to manage member absences whilst maintaining their career momentum in one of Asia's largest entertainment markets.
