Spider-Man: Brand New Day dominated South Korea's weekend box office, drawing over three million moviegoers in its first four days and claiming the top spot on the weekend chart.

The Hollywood blockbuster added 2.25 million admissions over the weekend, bringing its total to 3.38 million as of Sunday, according to data from the Korean Film Council, which compiles admissions from Friday through Sunday. The film, starring Tom Holland, achieved a string of speed records: it reached one million admissions on its second day of release, making it the fastest 2026 film to hit that milestone. It also became the quickest to pass both the two million and three million marks.

Competition on the chart shifted as the weekend progressed. As of Monday morning, Spider-Man: Brand New Day accounted for 43.7 per cent of ticket presales, with Hollywood's action epic The Odyssey, scheduled for Wednesday release, trailing at 38.7 per cent.

Na Hong-jin's sci-fi action thriller Hope held second place on the weekend chart, adding 335,808 admissions to reach 4.11 million total. Two Korean films cracked the top ten: the animated feature Heartsping Of Love 2: The Legend of the Whale Jewel placed seventh, whilst the mystery thriller The Eyes, starring Shin Min-a, ranked ninth.

Hollywood animations continued to draw audiences during South Korea's school summer holidays. Minions & Monsters and Toy Story 5 placed third and fifth respectively, whilst Moana, a live-action remake of Disney's 2016 animated film, ranked fourth. The success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day follows a stronger period for blockbuster releases, though it arrives as the local industry navigates shifting audience preferences in a crowded theatrical landscape.
