Kanye West settles lawsuit with former assistant over allegations

Kanye West has reached a settlement with his former assistant Lauren Pisciotta, concluding a legal dispute that spanned over two years. According to court documents obtained by USA Today, the settlement was reached on 23 July, though specific terms have not been disclosed.

Pisciotta, who worked for West between 2021 and 2023, filed the initial lawsuit in June 2024. Her complaint alleged sexual harassment, breach of contract, and wrongful termination. In subsequent filings, she expanded the accusations to include sexual battery, stalking, sex trafficking, and false imprisonment. She also alleged that West subjected her to obscene comments, demanded she wear specific clothing, and subjected her to unwanted sexual contact.

West's legal team consistently denied all allegations, characterising them as "baseless" and describing the lawsuit as an attempt at "blackmail and extortion". The rapper's representatives argued that Pisciotta was terminated for being "unqualified" and making unreasonable financial demands.

Pisciotta's attorney, Arick Fudali, confirmed the resolution to USA Today, stating: "The matter has been resolved." Under the settlement terms, Pisciotta must file a dismissal request within 45 days. West's representatives have not publicly commented on the settlement.

The case concludes a turbulent period for West, whose public reputation has been affected by various controversies in recent years, including antisemitic remarks and the subsequent cancellation of several international tour dates.
